Articles & Photo Credit Goes to UNI INDIA

Srinagar, June 10 (UNI) Srinagar observed a shutdown on Friday in protest against the blasphemous comments on Prophet Mohammad by two BJP spokespersons that have also caused outrage in the Islamic world. As a precaution, the mobile Internet has been suspended in parts of Srinagar to maintain order. Shops and business establishments remained closed in Srinagar’s city centre as well as the old city, officials and witnesses said. A few two-wheelers besides a small number of cabs and auto-rickshsaws plied in the main Civil Lines area and other roads besides on the outskirts. The normal hustle bustle on the roads was missing. No group in Kashmir had called for a shutdown on Friday. According to the managing body of the historical Jamia mosque, the authorities decided not to allow Friday congregational prayers at the mosque. The BJP has suspended one of the erring spokespersons and sacked another and informed Islamic countries that they represented the "fringe".
